Hi, Ray here again.
It often amazes me how recipes with the same name can have widely different ingredients and tastes.
A couple of years ago I wrote a review of a beef pasanda recipe where the beef pasanda curry received an average taste score of 7 out of 10.
Two months ago another beef pasanda recipe was published amongst the beef curry recipes amongst the great range of curry recipes on the Curry Focus website. And this time the recipe had a lot fewer ingredients and looked pretty easy to make.
So Saturday saw me buying some beef and yogurt.
Like the previous beef pasanda recipe, this one called for the beef to be marinated although this time it was marinated in yogurt instead of red wine.
It was quick and easy to cut up the beef and mix it up with the salt and yogurt on Saturday evening and put it into the fridge.
And the cooking part of the recipe is very simple as well. Like most beef recipes, there’s a fairly long cooking time for the beef (this time it was 90 minutes) although this part of the recipe doesn’t need much attention with only the need to stir the curry every now and again.
I saw that the total preparation and cooking time was around two hours and so I started into the kitchen exactly two hours before the scheduled eating time.
And this is a truly easy recipe to follow. I chopped up the onions and got them underway before preparing the ginger, garlic and spices.
The onions took about 10 minutes to cook and then in went the spices. The ingredient mixture immediately went dry so I had to stir often to stop the curry from sticking to the frying pan.
And after a short while I was adding the beef and its marinade and settling down to read a bit of my latest library book while the curry was looking after itself. I wandered into the kitchen about every 15 minutes to have a quick stir and check on things.
The dinner guests arrived on schedule and bang on time I was serving up the Beef Pasanda on basmati rice.
And this is a good curry. The beef and other ingredients were well cooked and the curry had a lovely taste. The pasanda was a dry curry and the little sauce that there was well tasty.
Everyone made good comments about the curry and it received a good taste score of 8 out of 10 with a spice/heat rating of “Medium to Hot”.
If you’re looking for an easy recipe for a tasty beef curry then you really ought to give this recipe a try.
