Review of the Chicken and Mushroom Pulao Recipe

Hi, Ray here again.

My girlfriend adores mushrooms and had been hinting that I should make a mushroom curry for a few months now.

I browsed through the great Curry Focus recipes and found a great looking recipe for Chicken and Mushroom Pulao.

The recipe called for chicken thighs, which I think are a lot tastier than chicken breasts.

And the recipe also had vegetables in it, with green beans as well as mushrooms. It must be a health curry if it has so many vegetables!!

It only took about 30 minutes to prepare the ingredients, Most of the time being taken up with me peeling the mushrooms before chopping them up. I prefer to peel mushrooms rather than just wiping them clean.

Like most of the Curry Focus recipes, this was a very simple recipe to make.

The only problem I had was in getting the rice cooked. I often have problems with cooking rice with the absorption method and this time was no exception. Maybe I have the simmer going at the wrong heat level. Maybe I’m just nervous about covering up a cooking meal and leaving it alone for 10-15 minutes without checking on the progress. Anyway, I needed the last phase to be 30 minutes instead of the recipe time of 15 minutes. And I needed to add a cup of boiling water to stop the rice from sticking to the frying pan.

The rice was eventually cooked OK and I dished up the pulao to the keen and hungry dinner guests with a gall of good wine.

This is a delightfully tasty pulao dish with a lovely taste of cloves and delicious chicken thigh. The rice was well cooked. And I couldn’t spot the cloves so two lucky people managed to get two cloves each.

Everyone loved the dish and it received a rating of 8 out of 10 with a heat/spice rating of very mild.

I’m sure that you won’t be disappointed with this recipe if you like pulao.

And did my girlfriend enjoy the mushroom curry? Well, unfortunately, she had a last minute unexpected dinner date with some friends that she had to be at. So she didn’t get to try the curry. How ironic was that?
