Tiffin Time
In India, tiffin means lunch, a snack or a light meal.
There are thousands of tiffin vendors who pour into the big Indian cities and sell their delicious lunches to hungry office workers. Tiffin is delivered in containers and the containers are collected later on in the day so that they can be cleaned and used again the next day.
A new twist on tiffin delivery has been introduced in Melbourne with tiffin being brought to the office on specially converted 3-wheeled bikes.
The “Tifins” company started trading about a year ago and was the creation of two brothers who immigrated to Australia from Mumbai. Business is now booming with around 250 meals being delivered to offices in the city center every day.
The 3-wheeled bikes can get through the Melbourne traffic amazingly quickly and the bikes have an insulated box that can hold up to 50 tiffin containers.
The tiffin food is hot and delicious and cheap.
Tiffin is a big hit in India and Melbourne. Where next?
