Review of Chas Chicken Curry Recipe

Hi, Ray here again.

I had a very busy weekend with lots to do and people to see. I would be out of the house for most of Sunday and Sunday is curry day.

I went through the Curry Focus recipes, looking for one that I could make on Saturday and heat up on Sunday night. Chas’s Chicken Curry recipe looked like the one to try.

I knew that I wouldn’t be able to find any Naga Bih Jaloka chillies but I had some dried Kashmiri chillies in the cupboard that I could use as a substitute. I hadn’t heard of a Naga Bih Jaloka chilli and think it must be a lot more powerful than the Kasmiri chilli.

The recipe was very easy to follow and before the curry was made pretty quickly and I went out for the rest of the day.

Sunday night arrived and I got home from my excursions an hour before the scheduled dining time. I more than enough time to prepare the cilantro, heat up the curry and cook some basmati rice.

I served up the curry and we settled down to eat it.

To be honest, the curry was disappointing. The curry was pretty bland and about all that could be tasted was the cilantro. I don’t like using curry paste and the curry paste that I had obviously didn’t add much to the flavor.

The curry received a poor taste score of 5.5 out of 10 with a spice/heat rating of “mild to medium”.
